Queer-led DESIGN DYSPHORIA debuted at Studio S II's headquarters during 2024 NYCxDESIGN. This exhibition was co-curated by Erica Sellers and Jeremy Silberberg of Studio S II, Liz Collins, and Grace Whiteside emphasized the cruciality of queer creative spaces to highlight how they inform LGBTQIA+ art and design.
While the queer community is intimately intertwined with the environments it constructs and inhabits, there continues to be a need and opportunity to establish new places that prioritize queer voices and camaraderie. What is the significance of being a LGBTQIA+ designer in a world that is just beginning to integrate queerness into its common milieu? The resulting exhibition comprises vignettes showcasing an array of works that include furniture,
glass lighting fixtures, textile artwork, and interactive design objects by majority women, nonbinary, and trans designers and artists that seek to foster connections and a sense of belonging within the LGBTQIA+ community.
